Jason Miller: General Manager-Sommelier
From his beginnings in a small New Jersey restaurant to a distinguished uptown kitchen, Jason Miller, sommelier at Picholine, has indeed risen to the top of the culinary world.
Miller's interest in wine was first piqued during an intensive wine course at his alma mater, the Culinary Institute of America. A seven-month stage at Gatsby's at the MGM Grand led to a post at Le Cirque, where he honed his culinary skills working his way through all aspects of the kitchen over a span of three years.
After leaving Le Cirque, Miller served as Assistant Sommelier at March, a three-star restaurant, until September of 2001. He subsequently joined Picholine as First Fromager, Assistant Sommelier, and took over the beverage program shortly thereafter.
Miller's background in food coupled with his intimate knowledge of the cheese cart for which Picholine is so renowned means that Miller has a much deeper grasp of the art of pairing wines and foods. Indeed he is recognized for this skill - Miller has brought Picholine the Wine Spectator Best Of Award of Excellence and the Wine Enthusiast Award of Distinction.
Miller is a member of the American Sommelier Society, the Society of Wine Educators, the American Institute of Wine and Food, as well as an advanced level graduate from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust.
